How Scripturewell shows pronunciation
Transliterations (the English spellings beside each word) are approximate guides, not recordings, and scholars pronounce ancient Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic in more than one way.
In the Lexicon, many entries also show a pronunciation spelling from Strong’s dictionaries (Greek 1890, Hebrew 1894), in the Open Scriptures edition shared under CC BY-SA.
In the Bible reader, turn on Translate and tap a highlighted word to see its meaning and how to say it.

About Scripturewell
A free well of Bible study for every day.
A Bible study companion that surfaces the depth of Scripture one note at a time.
Modern English translations are a gift, but every translation involves choices. The original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek words often carry layers of meaning that a single English word can't fully capture — cultural context, emotional weight, and theological depth that get smoothed over in translation.
Scripturewell brings those layers to the surface. Each day features a focused study: a Hebrew, Greek, or Aramaic word, an overlooked story insight, or a piece of cultural context that illuminates the text in a new way.
You can also write your own notes in the Notes section — they'll appear in your library and daily rotation alongside the seeded content.
Visit the Kids tab for Bible stories retold in simple, engaging language for children. Each story includes narration, a life lesson, and a verse reference — and you can queue up multiple stories to play back-to-back.
