Last updated October 3, 2026

Scripturewell is a free Bible-study app. It has no accounts, no ads and no paid features. This page explains in plain words where your information is kept and what the app sends over the internet. It describes how the app is built today; it is general information, not legal advice.

Beta notes

Scripturewell is in a limited, invite-only beta. It is not a public release, and its content and outside services are still under review.

Outside services

Some features may contact outside services, such as Bible text delivery, speech and its fallback, map images and other integrations described below. Their availability is not guaranteed, and their own policies apply. In this hosted beta, MP3 generation and download are not available.

Sharing beta feedback

Please send feedback only through the private channel you were invited with, using made-up or non-sensitive examples. Do not include journal entries, private notes, reading history, real backups or export/import files, passwords or other credentials, tokens, access links, browser-storage dumps, raw logs or screenshots showing sensitive content.

What stays on this device

Scripturewell saves the following in your browser’s storage on this device:

When storage is blocked: changes stay only in this page's memory and are lost on reload or close. A visible warning explains this. No personal data is sent to shared server storage. Open a normal browser tab for persistent storage; notes and prayer-journal exports remain available during the visit. Full backup and restore require device storage. Older preview versions used a shared server fallback; that route is now disabled, and any old server files are retained privately for owner-led review rather than silently deleted or assigned to another reader.

What Scripturewell does not collect

These statements were checked against the app’s code:

What the app sends over the internet

Some features need to ask for content. These requests contain only what is needed to return it, not your notes or saved items:

Browser and device limits

Backups

In the Notes tab, Backup and Restore lets you download a file with your Scripturewell data. The file is created on your device and is not uploaded. It is your portable copy: you decide where it goes. It can contain private notes, prayer journal entries and questions, so keep it somewhere private.

When you restore a backup, the file is read and checked on your device. You see what it contains and choose what to merge or replace before anything changes. Notification permission is never changed by a restore.

Outside websites and resources

The Teaching Library and study tools link to outside pages, such as BibleProject, Encyclopaedia Britannica, GotQuestions.org and Merriam-Webster. Teaching Library entries link to their provider's official pages; some older studies list only general reference sites. Before a Teaching Library link opens, Scripturewell names the provider. External links open in a new tab. Scripturewell does not send those sites your notes or saved items, although your browser may send a referrer. Their own privacy policies apply. A link is not an endorsement in either direction. See Copyright and attribution for source categories and unresolved credits.

Children and families

The Kids section has Bible story retellings and narration. Scripturewell does not ask for or keep names, ages or other details about children. The age group you pick in Family Mode is a reading setting saved on this device. There are no ads or in-app purchases.

What Scripturewell is not

Scripturewell offers Bible study and educational material. It is not medical, mental-health, legal, financial or crisis support. If you or someone near you is in danger or crisis, contact local emergency services or a trusted local helpline.

Deleting your data

You can delete single notes, bookmarks, journal entries, memory verses, saved questions and reminder history inside the app. To remove everything, clear this site’s data in your browser settings or uninstall the app. Consider downloading a backup first.

Questions and changes

If the way Scripturewell handles information changes, this page and its date will be updated. Questions? Email stonern0105@gmail.com.
